Diary of a Shed - 27 May 2004

Adding the sheathing (ie attaching the OSB sheets to the timber frame) was very exciting, not least because it went very quickly and we could soon get an idea of what the shed was really going to look like. Sarah was my 'nail distribution system' (handing me the nails while I attached the boards!) and she also set up the wedges underneath the bottom of the boards as we put them into place, as level as possible.

These are two 18-foot, 2x8" boards, which will be used for the ridges on the roof. So pretty soon I'll have to lift these 13 feet up in the air! Considering how long they are, they are surprisingly light... or is it that I'm just surprisingly strong?!
Although one of the ridges will be shorter, I ordered 2 long boards so that I could pick the best one for the long ridge - sometimes the wood can be a little bendy. Actually both pieces are pretty good (one has a very very slight curve), but it only added a couple of quid to the price, and it was worth doing for peace of mind.
