Diary of a Shed - 18 October 2004 < Back    Next >    HOME
More shingling and more great progress. I managed to complete the whole of the left-hand side of the roof, except for the ridge shingles which go on top. I must remember to do them before I move the scaffolding to the other side of the shed, otherwise there will be no way to get up there.

One important thing to tell you: Gisburne's Patented Super-reach Nailer Tool has another use! It can now be used to lift the end of the chalk line, and hook it over the nail (see yesterday) so that I don't have to use the roof ladder. Top tackle, my stick - I'm glad I saved it!

There's not a lot more I can say, other than that I'm very pleased with the results, and it's not complicated, just a lot of work!

According to the book I've been using to help me plan the roof, this is called the pyramid pattern. Shingles are added diagonally until you go upwards as far as you can, then rather than doing a row straight across, you fill in the roof diagonally.
