Diary of a Shed - 16 August 2004 < Back    Next >    HOME
15 August
Same as yesterday really, except this time I really had to work around the Grand Prix even more because it was the actual race. I haven't missed one for about 5 years so I can't start now, not even for the shed! There was still lots of going up and down the ladders (isn't that what they're for?!) and after taking 2 hours to fix the valley underlay in place (that's not including painting the primer on) that's my working day over! Sadly the forecast is for rain all week (one of the reason I had to go out and do it on an F1 day), but the valley underlay should help to shift a lot of the water - I'd noticed that that's where most of the rain was coming through.

Well the rain held off just long enough for me to fit some more underlay into the top-right corner, which was lucky. The good thing is that when all the underlay in on I can add shingles here and there whenever I get a few dry hours, whereas with the underlay the primer has to dry for an hour and the underlay itself is a struggle to maneuvre, so I need a longer patch of fine weather. The shed has really got me checking the weather several times a day - I need to know when the low pressure brings in those cold fronts!

Like a big set of waterproof eyebrows, or one of those road signs where you're going round a sharp bend... or, maybe, just roof underlay, probably.
