Diary of a Shed - 17 July 2004 | < Back Next > HOME | |||||||||||
Another week of rain and crappy off-and-on weathery type gubbins, so the progress has been zero for seven days. Up until today that is, when I pulled on my big clod-hopper boots, strapped on my tool belt, stuck out my builder's arse and strutted down to the shed for a bit of a tinker with the roof! The photos will tell you about the board (just one, but in two parts) I put up, but a lot of the day was spent nailing down everything that I'd forgotten to do before. I've a habit of doing as much as I can, then coming back to finish it off later. Unfortunately I'd missed out the 'finish it off later' part and when I added the last board a week ago I didn't remember to get up inside and over to nail the back roof on properly - it was only nailed with the minimum to keep it in place. This meant I've had to stretch as far as I can (quite far, I'm a bit tall) and get as many nails in as possible. If all else fails, at some point I have to clamber on it to put roof felt on, so I can do any missing nails then. And in fact that will probably get me acclimatised to the terror that is using the roof hook (for its proper purpose anyway - I still have it nailed to the shed roof to hold my boards in place when I lift them up!). Sun (what's that?!) is forecast for tomorrow, so maybe more work, maybe not. In fact I've just checked (as I do 10 times a day) and it's changed from 'sunny' to 'sunny intervals' - typical. I guarantee you that it will be wazzing it down by mid-morning tomorrow! Update:This is less than an hour later and it now says 'light showers' - the weather is coming in so fast we'll have penguins in the shed looking for shelter at this rate! Told you it would wazz!
