Bad day for stress levels! The f@!?#ng rain decided to mess me about, so no sooner had I set up the electrical equipment (mitre saw and jigsaw) than we had a shower. Annoyingly it was just a 5 minute spit-and-drizzle, but I still had to bring everything in again (I'm not keen on electrocution) and wait for half an hour to make sure that it wasn't going to rain again. Then go out, set it all up, fit one piece of wood to the roof, and... you guessed it, more rain! This time a BIG shower, but it could have been one drop of rain or Noah's flood because I'd had so much trouble getting that one piece of roof to fit that I was already in a really foul mood and was banging walls and kicking bits of wood around!

To top it all off, before we had the big shower I'd pulled back the tarpaulin to let the floor dry (overnight rain had seeped under the edges) which meant that the half-hour of mopping the tarpaulin and drying the floor was all wasted - the shower totally soaked the exposed floor. Stress - it has to dry before putting back the tarpaulin but rain is forecast for most of the week, and it wasn't drying because it was cloudy... aaarrrrgghhhh!

Anyway, I eventually managed to find a clear patch of weather and filled in another section of the roof, which you'll see here. But after that, although the weather kept fine, I decided that enough was enough and came back in. If I'd stayed out I would have caused an accident or just chopped the whole lot down with an axe!

One last thing: we decided to loose-fit the vent to see what it looked like in the gable end. Answer: very nice. Unfortunately a gust of wind then blew it out of the hole, down to the ground (10 feet below) and broke the sides off. Nice end to a nice day!

The second part of this side of the roof valley, all filled in.
