Diary of a Shed - 15 June 2004 < Back    Next >    HOME
Rest day on Sunday... also known as motorsport frenzy! Moto GP, Superbikes, Le Mans and of course Formula 1! Obviously with that little lot there was no time to do any work at all on the shed! However on Monday (14th) I spent the whole day attaching one of the diagonal valley rafters (still one more to go). I was up and down the ladders again like a starving mouse up a rope of cheesy strings, creating the correct shape from a piece of scrap wood, which was getting worryingly shorter each time I tried. Eventually it all came together, I copied the test piece and cut it out of the actual 10-foot piece of timber... and it fits! Not perfectly, but well enough - just a small wedge of wood where I'd cut away a little bit too much. Then on the 15th it was full steam ahead with the jack rafters (which attach to the valley rafter). It's all here so read all about it...

Remember the clay moulding plan from last time? Just take a load of dried-out chunks of clay and put them in a bucket...
