BS proof of God's existence
Argument From History
1. The Bible is true.
2. Therefore, the Bible is historical fact.
3. Therefore, God exists.
Consider this
The presence of those seeking the truth is infinitely to be preferred to the presence of those who think they've found it.
Terry Pratchett

Atheist on the Blog
The more I look at religion, the more I dislike it and what it does to the world and its people. This blog will help you understand why religion is something you shouldn't accept as a good thing in our lives. Above all, don't respect religious beliefs when their practitioners refuse to respect you.

YouTube drama     6 June 2007
Just a few words about the ever-expanding 'drama' on YouTube, whereby atheists call each other liars, cheats and ugly. I originally called this the '1000 subscriber ass hole effect' - as soon as someone got to 1000 subscribers it seemed that their brains became so addled with their imaginary popularity that they dropped all pretence of taking part in serious discussions, or delivering interesting and stimulating ideas, and instead decided to take personal pot-shots at other atheists. End result: atheists in general get a bad name and we all look like idiots.

Things have changed, but only marginally. Now you don't even need 1000 subscribers to join this 'elite' band of bad-mouthers. You can be a character assassin with a couple of hundred subs and (because apparently people love to see this kind of thing), taking a pop at people who probably share the same views on most things, but made one comment you don't agree with, will get you more popularity.

I was never sucked into taking part (I'm not that stupid), but I was, for a time, somewhat fooled into watching the bitch-fest for several weeks, much like becoming addicted to crap TV. Just tonight I realised I was watching some bullshit programme about 'good girls gone bad', before waking up my brain and switching off the set. The same was happening with YouTube - there was so much garbage video drama that it was easy to get hooked.

The bottom line was that I found that this site wasn't being updated. I wasn't finding new videos, wasn't watching atheists who caught my attention and made me think. Recently, however, you may have noticed that I have been adding sometimes 3 or 4 videos a day, quality videos that I really want to share with people. Why am I doing this? Because I switched off the drama. I stopped watching the crap. I tuned into the atheists on YouTube who really do have something worth watching.

Hopefully you'll do the same. Recognise when you start to watch some bullshit about a conspiracy theory, or some kind of negative video flagging campaign, or a mindless, pointless 'pwning' video. Recognise it and click the 'back' button. Then pick another video and make better use of your time. All the videos I add to this site are ones worth watching (except maybe those in the 'Stuff' section where I indulge myself), but these are just a drop in the ocean. I usually only feature one video per YouTuber, so take a look at their other videos. Look at the people they respond to, or subscribe to.

Intelligent YouTube atheists haven't gone away from YouTube, but they are sometimes eclipsed by the 'Jerry Springer style' crowd. I'll try and help you find the good stuff, but sometimes all you have to do is look.

Avoid the YouTube drama. It's not worth your time.

Why does this site exist?     6 June 2007
Originally this site was here to get my videos back on YouTube. Then it was for promotion of my book. And while I still intend to pursue both of these activities, I really want to expand it as a video resource of the best videos and video bloggers I can find. If you're on this site, it's because I liked your video. And chances are I like most, if not all of your videos, and would subscribe to them if I had a secret YouTube account (which I might or might not have, but I'm saying nothing!).

I'm particularly pleased with the 'Newsfeeds' section, because I use it all the time - it pulls together a wide range of atheist news stories that I probably wouldn't otherwise read. It's really like an atheist newspaper, and I use my own web site a lot more now it's there. Try it - you'll find something new every day. The clue is in the name!

So really this site is just a big 'my favourite videos' site, coupled with 'my favourite news stories', coupled (should that now be tripled?) with 'all my own stuff I want you to see'. It's a web site I'd like to see if I was wanting to find out more about atheism and other atheists. And because I do want to see such a site, that's why it's here.

Big Nick's Blogtastic Bloggy Blog (working title)     6 June 2007
If you're going to start writing a blog (and apparently I just did), you may as well give it a really crappy name. So here it is, Nick Gisburne's blog - see above for the title. Just proving that it's not some anonymous web designer putting up this site, it really is me. But an imposter would say that, wouldn't he? Strangely you never see me and Richard Dawkins in the same room together. Coincidence?
